How to Play guide

Our Story

We made Word Impostor because party games usually break in one of two ways: they take too long to explain, or they lose energy after a round or two. We wanted something that gets straight to the fun.

The goal has been simple from the start: fast room setup, clear roles, smooth rounds, and enough variation that the same group can come back without it feeling stale.

Our mission is to make social deduction games easier to start and more fun to replay.

Why Groups Play

Easy to start

Create a room, share the code, and get everyone into a round quickly without a long setup. New players can join fast, and the basic flow is easy to pick up.

Good for groups

Word Impostor works well for friend groups, classrooms, calls, parties, and pass-and-play sessions. It adapts to different group sizes and play styles without changing the core game.

Different ways to play

Classic covers the core experience, while Wereword, Spyfall, Double Agent, Hardcore, and Pass & Play give groups different ways to play depending on the mood and setup.

Built from player feedback

We keep improving Word Impostor based on player feedback, bug reports, and real play sessions, from quality-of-life updates to new features and game modes.
